Windows Vista has Lame Figurines
This is probably the lamest thing I have ever heard. Story goes that Microsoft have come up with some "cool" (and I use this term very loosely) action figurines. Martial arts galore. Or is it?
You get a few characters, so riddled with politically incorrect stereotypes that the I'll-feed-on-anything Hollows would gag on them. For instance, you get the Aryan tribute, typically blonde warrior hero. Think corny version of Ken from Street Fighter. The Windows Vista Sensei.
Then you get the Office Master in the form of a shaolin monk. Sigh. TMNT fans as well as to much Kung fu?
And you get ISV Super Gal. America seems to have something about blondes; the number of movie stars popping up with lighter shades of hair is increasing. It gets worse by the way; she learns cheerleading peppiness from a Tibetian monk!!
I'm still laughing!
I don't know who should be more affronted - Asians whose Eastern Philosophies are summed up as upgradable black belt characters or those poor Tibetian monks. After all, their way of life has crassly reduced to pom pom happiness.
I wonder how many women would be insulted by the ISV Gal. Talk about mixing in a healthy dose of gender stereotypes. She likes to sing "Hey Mickey"and watches Sex and the City?
On that note, who is the target audience? People old enough to vote will probably die laughing when they see the figurines. And good luck selling the figurines to kids. I can't imagine too many parents encouraging their kids to watch Sex and City just 'cos their fav character indulges in sitcom about sexcapades.
The rest of the characters are bad, painfully bad.

Space Station has a gun
Hmmm... Did you know the International Space Station has a gun? Well, not a giant space gun that blasts anything out of the water but a handy, run of the mill NRA number. Now why would your survival gear include a gun? Just who do you expect to pop over when you are going about your work in space? Seems like someone took the sci-fi movies seriously.

Death Note Bag
This is an awesome bag! It's a bit pricey and I wish they had it in South Africa so that the import cost etc. doesn't kill you. But given that it is death note, perhaps it is quite fitting.

Jericho is back
Jericho is coming back for a second season! Initially, it was canceled due to poor ratings but after numerous appeals by fans, it's back with a bang.
Makes you wonder what the networks are up to - if the ratings were poor - means not enough people were watching - then how come there was a massive response from viewers to get it back on air? I think poor ratings was just an excuse - think Farscape, Futurama, Firefly and other goodies who were supposedly not up to network standard.
Well, good news is, Jericho is back and second season will air on 12th Feb. Here is a link to Executive producer's comments about the show.

Sony GPS tracker
Here's an interesting gadget from Register Hardware. It's a new development by Sony where you can hook up the GPS widget to your camera or videocam and the handy (or forearm-ish, if you will) gadget will record your location every 15 seconds.
I'm sure it's quite useful when you go on exotic trips to far away places. I can think of a few eager photographers who would buy this widget (as much as I am wary of my location being tracked every few minutes).
I just hope none wears one of this when they visit South Africa in 2010; after all, this is an easy way to rob you and find the way back to your hotel.
